THE EDIT: NEW SEWING PATTERN RELEASES – 20 AUGUST
Kate Underdown

Happy Sunday Fold Liners! It’s time for your weekly dose of The Edit: New Sewing Pattern Releases. This blog and vlog highlight some of the new arrivals to hit the shop this week. Kate natters about all the details you need to know so if you’re a pattern nerd like we are, this is for you!

If you like a little company while you sew and want to keep up with the hot releases.  You might want to hit subscribe and never miss a thing.

The much-anticipated woven version of Named’s bestselling Kielo pattern is here! We are blown away by this 3-in-1 pattern that takes the unique wrap detail we all loved on Kielo and gives us loads more woven options to play with. Lilja is asking to be made again and again! You can sew any of the variations either sleeveless or with bohemian, ¾-length puff sleeves. You can also choose a round or square neckline or a combination of both. The round neckline can be finished with either a facing or a binding with a back vent and ties.

Love a square neckline? Me too! The True Bias Aster Top and Dress feature a square cut front and back neckline, as well as squared-off armholes. The other detail I really like is the angled French darts to shape it. The top view would look great with a skirt, shorts or culottes as a co-ord set.

We are excitedly anticipating the V&A’s upcoming Chanel exhibition and we predict there is going to be a surge in sewing twinsets and tweed jackets, so this release is right on the money! Bella Loves Patterns Freddie Jacket is single-breasted with a boxy shape and a round neckline finished with front and back facings. Freddie is fully lined and has an optional chain weight on the inside hem. The designer, Isabella, is so good at passing on couture techniques and tips to get an elevated finish on your handmade garments.

Jump on the utility trend with this chic and understated take on cargo pants. The Maker’s Atelier Utility pattern includes options for a skirt or trousers, the latter can be made with a straight leg or loosely elasticated cuff. All options have an elasticated waist and easy fit, making these transitional separates exceptionally comfortable to wear.

If you love a romantic ruffle and flowy silhouette, the Helen’s Closet Lawrence pattern is the new arrival for you! It features a relaxed fit with a v-neck and an optional shoulder ruffle detail. Make it as a sweet top or dress. Wear the dress belted to cinch it in or loose on hot days.

Run, don’t walk… there’s a new FREEBIE in town! The Sew Love Patterns Kaia Dress and Top is free for the FIRST MONTH! Kaia features front and back v-necklines finished with a partial lining and the central seams are perfect for colour blocking and mixing contrasting fabrics. Make Kaia as a top, mini dress or midi dress, the dresses can be made with or without elastic at the waist.

Haven’t sewn your own leggings before? The Waves & Wild Jupiter Leggings have so many options, this is the only pattern you will ever need! There are multiple rise, waistband, and colour-blocking options, as well as a clever phone pocket. There is also the option to add a diamond-shaped gusset for a little extra comfort. And just in case that isn’t enough, there are five lengths to choose from!

In my humble opinion, culottes are the easiest style of trousers to wear, as well as sew. The Bobbins and Buttons Fern Culottes have a classic cut with wide legs, a comfortable elasticated waist which makes them a pull-on style, and optional side seam pockets.

We’ve added two more editions of the kid’s OTTOBRE Design magazine which is full of inspiring designs for babies and children. New seasonal issues are published four times a year, and the summer 2023 issue includes 25 delightful, practical patterns complete with comprehensive sewing instructions. The full-size patterns are printed on six large pattern sheets

The autumn/winter 2023 OTTOBRE kid’s issue includes 26 delightful, practical patterns which include cosy knit styles, a cute baby basics collection and sweet dresses and tops.
