The Brand Edit: Sezane
After the success of the Toast Edit a few months ago many requests came in for me to go and do a Sezane one. Your wish is my command… and here we are. I got to go and look at the clothes in the shop and even managed to sneak you into the changing room with me. So here is the video and all the stills are down below if you fancy a closer peruse.

This workwear-inspired jacket is one they repeat year on year. It’s a style that doesn’t go out of fashion and each season it re-births in a new colourway. The pattern that I chose was the Masin Jameela jacket, the proportions of the jacket are spot on ad has the same shape pockets.
Another style that comes out year on year is this super wrap coat. A timeless classic that you’ll reach for again, as soon as I saw it I thought of the Bella Loves Patterns Grace coat. Stuffed full of interesting tailoring details this coat is a must-make this season.
Who doesn’t love or own a quilted jacket?! I loved this boxy version that Sezane has and it’s reversible. The Helen’s Closet Wildwood ticks a lot of the boxes here (including the jazzy lining!) my only suggestion is to size up to make it feel oversized.
As soon as I saw the jumpsuit I thought of the Blanca suit from Closet Core. They are so similar in style including the zip down the front the only tweak about be the narrow the leg slightly which is an easy fix.
I fell hard for this super blouse, perfect for spring and bringing a lot of big-sleeve energy to the table. It was another style that I saw and instantly thought of the pattern, the Anna Allen Anthea is perfect, the only tweak would be to add a frill to the neckline.
This high-necked blouse comes in many iterations and is another style they repeat from season to season. I own one and wear it a lot it’s a really useful piece for your wardrobe, the two patterns that I have chosen for this are StyleArc Isabella which is the slightly easier sew of the two. The other is the Atelier Scammit passion, I’d leave off the patch pockets on the chest.
This was one of the garments I tried on and own it’s such a useful item that I reach for time and time again. The Assembly Line oversized shirt is one that many have made and loved and thought it was a pretty spot on match.
Onto the trousers, I was very taken with this paperbag style with a slightly tapered leg. Having had a very good hunt the Megan Nielsen Opal pants ticked a lot of the boxes.
I love this high waisted pair of sailor-style trousers. This is another style that they repeat each season, the Merchant and Mills Quinn pattern seemed like a really good fit and had lots of mens tailoring details.
Last but not least we have a dress.. and a fantastic one at that. A boxy denim shirt dress with a grandad collar. I’ve always loved this Simplicity pattern and I think option B would be a good option. Perhaps sizing up on this would make it feel a little more boxy.

Love these brand edits. I would love for you to do one on Cos. I love their clothes and minimal style but a bit out of my pocketbook. Would love to sew a bunch of look-a-like pieces with your help

My suggestion for a future Edit: Egg Trading. I doubt FL will get a lot of asks; in fact, this may be it for Egg replica requests. But that’s the sort of edgy style I look for in patterns.
I’ve found some style like that in Japanese pattern books and vintage patterns. Are there any Sofie d’Hoore/Rei Kawakubo-like patterns out there? And I wonder if this is even Kate’s cup of tea. Probably not. Well, in any case, bring back the dog.
