Buy the Virginia Leggings sewing pattern from Megan Nielsen. Virginia is the ultimate pair of basic leggings with an elasticated waist. The pattern features multiple mix and match options including narrow and wide waistbands, different inseam options, and cuffs.

View A is a full length legging with a narrow waistband. View B is a cuffed 3/4 length legging with a wide waistband. View C is a bike short with a narrow waistband. View D is a pair of shorts with a wide waistband.

Suggested fabrics: Stretch fabrics with at least 40% stretch – preferably containing spandex or lycra. Please note that this pattern has negative ease, and as such it is very important to choose fabrics with the appropriate amount of stretch to get the fit right.

View A: 150 cm (60″) wide fabric: 1.2 – 1.3 m (1 1/4 – 1 3/8 yd) // 115 cm (45″) wide fabric: 1.3 – 2.4 m (1 3/8 – 2 5/8 yd).

View B: 150 cm (60″) wide fabric: 0.9 – 1.3 m (1 – 1 3/8 yd) // 115 cm (45″) wide fabric: 1.1 – 1.8 m (1 1/4 – 2 yd).

View C: 150 cm (60″) wide fabric: 0.8 – 0.9 m (7/8 – 1 yd) // 115 cm (45″) wide fabric: 0.8 – 1.4 m (7/8 – 1 1/2 yd).

View D: 150 cm (60″) wide fabric: 0.7 – 0.9 m (3/4 – 1 yd) // 115 cm (45″) wide fabric: 0.8 – 1.3 m (7/8 – 1 3/8 yd).

Sizing: 0 – 20 (approx. UK 6 – 20, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

Notions: Views A and C: 2.5 cm (1″) wide elastic // Views B and D: 6 mm (1/4″) or 2.5 cm (1″) wide elastic.
