I love the Melilot pattern and have made it several times with long- and short-sleeves, as well as lengthening it into dresses… but my latest one is a particularly special addition to my wardrobe, as it’s made from a beautiful silk scarf that’s printed with a painting by professional artist husband! We had some of his paintings made into scarves three years ago and I found one that was left over… so I decided that I fancied making it into something else wearable. It was certainly a tricky fabric to work with as it’s so lightweight and slippy – not to mention that I made it harder for myself by including my very first hidden placket! – and half way through I wasn’t sure if it was going to work, as it looked a bit ‘clown-like’, but I’m SO pleased I persisted, as it’s turned out beautifully – the fabric quality and colour saturation is stunning. I even included his signature on one of my cuffs!
