A review of Grainline Studio Thayer Jacket

I’ve been wanting to sew a coat/jacket for a while now and fell in love with look of the Thayer, especially with the cord and fluffy lining so I decided to replicate that with a navy cord for the shell, grey cotton Sherpa for the body lining and navy brushed cotton for the sleeves lining, I also used gunmetal buttons which went better with the grey and navy than chrome.

The pattern instructions were easy to follow and I really enjoyed sewing the whole project. I’m still a beginner and this was my first jacket, all my other garments have been simple cami’s or tops so it did take me several days to complete.

The sherpa fabric had some stretch and the buttonholes took more time than usual as the layers wouldn’t feed smoothly through my machine but it makes such a cozy lining I would use it again.
