Not a silly Billie!

A review of Tilly and the Buttons Billie Sweatshirt and Dress

Tilly’s Billie dress has been calling to me ever since it was released last month. It reminds me of sweater dresses I wore in the late 80s/early 90s and is the ULTIMATE in secret PJs!
For my Billie I used a gorgeous plush-backed sweatshirting from The Eternal Maker and it is SO cosy and comfy that I never want to take it off!
It’s a simple and straightforward pattern that you can easily whizz up in an afternoon and it’s suitable for all sewing levels including beginners, not least because Tilly’s instructions are always spot on.

I made a size 3, graded to a 2 at the waist just to give it a hint of shaping on my hourglass figure. To adjust the pockets to fit the new graded side seams I followed Tilly’s very helpful – and free! – Fitting Billie tutorial on her website.

Instead of the standard crew neckband I hacked the high/wide neckband from the Sew House 7 Toaster – head to my blog to see how I did it:
