Fifi – Tilly & the Buttons

A review of Fifi - Tilly & the Buttons

This is a pair of pyjamas that consist of a camisole and a pair of shorts by Tilly and the buttons. The sizes range from UK 6 to 20.

I refashioned a pink silk blouse that I found very cheaply on a flea market. I added some white silk to make bindings for the camisole and to make the shorts. I had to make a seam into the center back, for I had just a limited amount of fabric. I used the little fabric scraps that I had left from the blouse to finish the short hems with pink bias binding instead of turning the hems. I thus ended up with a pink top with white binding and white shorts with pink binding. To finish the top, I found a small pink bow with a bead that had at some point come loose from an old bra or something. I sewed it in the center front and my top was done.

The pattern is quite an easy to sew and the instructions were clear with lots of images.

I like the classic design and this certainly is a pattern that can be used many times. The sizing is not perfect for a smaller busted women like me. I went with the size 10 that is my usual size and that matched quite well my waist and hips but the bust had some extra width. This wasn’t really a surprise, since the sizing chart told me that. I thought, however, that for a pair of pyjamas the exact sizing wasn’t so important, at least for my first attempt with this pattern.

I imagine that this won’t be my last time using this pattern, although the next time I will go down a size at the bust.
