Betty Dress – Sew Over It

I attempted to make this dress with the add-on pattern for a scoop neck and long sleeves, but I’m afraid I’ve abandoned it because it looked so awful. I made a toile of just the bodice pieces, and it required some pretty major alteration, I had to take it in a huge amount to get it to fit me. This pattern runs VERY big. The fit seemed OK, so I carried on with the final garment, but once I’d got the sleeves in, it pulled the neckline out way too wide for me, and I couldn’t figure out how to alter it to make it fit. It was so wide, it was dropping off my shoulders. I also didn’t like the neckline on me at all, it really wasn’t very flattering. Maybe the boat neck version will suit me better, I should know by now that low necks don’t suit me!
