A great playsuit with some adjustments

I am a beginner sewer and this was the first pattern I’d needed to adjust to fit. I made the top in a 14 and still had to take it at the side seams under the armpits and taper to the waist of the trousers/shorts. The bottom fit perfectly in the 16 and I love the shape. Obviously this took a bit of easing to fit the 14 top to the 16 bottom but I think it came out well.
The playsuit pictured was the third version I’d made with this pattern and it’s now one of my favourite items of clothing. As you can see I wore it to Drag Fest and received a lot of compliments!

Top: meh, trousers: yay!

I usually stick to indie patterns but I'd seen a few of these cropping up on instagram and thought I'd give it a whirl. As ever with Big 4 patterns, the sizing/measurements were totally bananas. I usually wear a UK 8/10 and measured as a 12/14. I opted to make the size 12.

One of the major draws of this pattern was that it could be made with medium weight/quilting cotton and I chose one from Cotton and Steel. The neckline gaped terribly, so I narrowed the top of the bodice, and added extra diagonal darts under the arms. This helped a little but I'm not sure I would make the jumpsuit again. However, the fit on the trousers is absolutely perfect and I would definitely make just these again.

New Look Jumpsuit & Dress 6446

This jumpsuit is super comfy and makes you feel quite put-together and stylish. The instructions are clear and simple, a pretty straightforward make. I made this out of an H&M tablecloth I bought in the sale last summer - perfect for the tropical heat of a UK summer?
