Now this is one pattern I’ve had for simply ages!

I shouldn’t have waited so long, it’s gorgeous!

After a lot of research and dithering about sizing, I sized down just half a size to size 6. From the garment measurement chart I could see this would still give me a whopping 11.5 inches of ease. Other reviews were split between staying around the proposed size or going down by up to 3 sizes so I was a bit nervous about how enormous my Roscoe Blouse would be.

It is still very very roomy but in this fabric it is absolutely perfect. I think I would go down a size next time though.

In this size it’s definitely a blouse to tuck in!

There’s nothing too tricky about this make. The instructions were as you’d expect from True Bias, and very good.

Nice pattern, wrong fabric

I think sometimes a pattern and a fabric don’t mix and this was the case with my Roscoe blouse. Despite seeing so many lovely drapey viscose versions, I made it from a broderie anglaise double gauze. This meant the final version didn’t have the drape I was looking for and the neckline, ties and cuffs were tough to sew as I effectively had 5 layers of fabric plus embroidery in places which wasn’t easy when working with quite narrow pieces of fabric.

Apart from my poor fabric choice though, it was a good pattern to sew and the instructions were easy to follow. My full review is here:

Quick, easy make

A great pattern! I've made this twice as a blouse and once as a maxi dress. For the blouse, I made a standard size 12 but removed 3 inches or so from the length. For the dress, I made the same size but added a couple of inches' length to each piece so it would be closer to a maxi length than a midi length.
This is certainly suitable for beginner sewers- there are no tricky curves to stretch out of shape or any fastenings to worry about. Aside from a bit of stitching in the ditch (or topstitching if you're feeling lazy), there's nothing too challenging involved at all. It sews up in about an hour (not including cutting out the fabric). Definitely a must-sew!

A Liberty Roscoe

This pattern is very easy to give 5 stars to! It's a joy to make, the raglan sleeves are so much easier and quicker to sew than regular sleeves, and I just love the boho loose fitting style of the pattern.

The sizing was a little confusing, as the pattern seems to give you a whopping 12" ease on the bust. My bust is 36", and I eventually sized down to the size 0 which still gave me 8" ease. I was concerned that this amount of sizing down might lead to fit issues in other areas, but not so, I would totally cut this size again.

The only pattern alteration that I made was to shorten the length of it by 1.5" (I'm 5'2" btw) and this is now the perfect length for me should I wish to wear it untucked.

The beautiful Liberty fabric was given to me by Minerva.com in exchange for a review/blog on their site and the link to the full pattern and fabric review with lots more pics can be found here.

Roscoe Dress - True Bias

I am in love with this dress! It's great for beginners - no fitting, no closures and no sleeves to set in. It does feature a lot of gathering though so, gather haters, be warned. It's designed to be loose and I fell into the size 4 bracket, but decided to size one down and make the 2 instead. It was a good call. I think the size 4 might have swamped my frame. I shortened the hem by 2 inches but other than that it's exactly as it came out of the packet. Great instructions are expected from True Bias and this is no exception. I'm really pleased with my Roscoe.
