Blue boucle Petra

Love this coat, a subtle cocoon shape and lots of interesting details. The side seems angle forwards to the uneven hem and side slits below the large pockets (think York Pinafore) The coat has a lovely wrap/open collar that is super cosy closed and the wide sleeves allow for a chunky jumper underneath.

Size down at least one size, this coat is large! I omitted the fold upon the sleeve by removing 4 inches. My boucle fabric would have been too bulky faced and tuned up. The instructions are brief as usual, the seam order diagram helps. I read through, then did my own thing!

Mie, Sewing Like Mad has a really useful blog post about this coat, and see her review ?

Petra Coat with shortened sleeves

The Petra Coat has so many cool details, such as forward angled side seams, asymmetrical vents and a slightly pointy front hem. And some gorgeous lined patch pockets.

I live in a warm climate and therefor I decided to shorten the sleeves. I really love that look too.

The coat is unlined and I covered most of my seam edges with bias tape. A really fun sew!
