Lovely wide pant pattern

After spending the best part of summer trying to find some loose trousers that fit properly I finally landed on the Clare Pant by Style Arc. Love this pattern now, made 2 trousers and 2 shorts versions already!

Clare Trousers review

I've made two pairs of these pants already. These are the linen ones. I also made some in a linen/cotton blend. The fit is really great and they go with everything. The reason for 'only' four stars is the technique for the waistband plus sizing. I did some minor improving, which had a big impact. See tutorial on my blog HERE. You can also see both pairs there. I found these a bit bigger than similar Style Arc pants and I sized down to 12 (from my normal 14) plus I ended up sewing them in, ever so slightly more, over my hips. I have already worn these a ton.

The Clare Pants from Stylearc

I cannot recommend these trousers highly enough. In my opinion they are the most perfect cropped wide leg trousers which are comfortable and practical as well as knockout gorgeous. I found the width of the trouser leg to be perfect, love the slant pockets which are massive, the sweet little pleats at the front, the tie belt is wonderful and who doesn't love an elasticated waistband (which is flat at the front).
I cut a straight size 12 with no alterations other than to shorten the length of the leg - which at 5'2" I always have to do. The instructions are very basic, but as long as you read them very carefully and refer to the diagrams too, they are perfectly adequate. I did get a little muddled with the direction of the front pleats in the instruction wording - not sure if that was me or the instructions, but other than that they were a total pleasure to sew. No fastenings on these either. Love 'em.
