Papercut Patterns Guise Pants

I really like making trousers, I find the more involved process really satisfying and enjoy the slightly trickier techniques. The Papercut Patterns Guise Pants is a great pattern for making woven trousers, not too fitted which makes them a bit easier. I’m looking forward to making these in a brighter fabric too.

I made a couple of changes to the pattern. Firstly, I decided to widen the leg as I really like wearing wide legged trousers in the summer months. I also omitted the elastic in the waistband, mainly because I didn’t have any at hand! To compensate for this I took in the waistband at the side seams. I particularly enjoyed giving welt pockets a go, it was the first time I tried them so they aren’t perfect but it’s great to have a pattern with them on.

You can read more about these on my blog.

Guise Pants

First time making these pants. They are super comfortable. Pattern sizing is very large - I made a small and added darts at the back to bring in waistline, also chopped about 6 cm off the waistband. I am not normally a small. I wasn’t sure how they’d turn out so used a mixture of fabric left overs from an old project. Button is from my aunt - pretty happy with that. I took it slow on the tricky stuff like fly, waistband and welt pockets. Not perfect results but if someone is going to look that closely I think I’ve got other problems! Definitely recommend pattern. Can make smart AND comfortable pants. Just make sure you look at the finished measurements, not the body measurements, to work out your size.
