Papercut Patterns Coppélia Cardi

When I spotted this pattern, it took me back to approx. aged 3 in a ballet class. I knew I wanted to recreate the look!

Guthrie Ghani had some kitten-soft pink loopback jersey to complete the look.

I made the full wrap version for maximum ballet-compatibility! I graded from an XS at the bust to S at the waist because I don't wear a bra under my leotard.

The waistband was a bit fiddly to get right but perseverance paid off. I think I should have been more forceful with the neckband stretching as it sticks up a bit. Live and learn!

Overall, a really cute top that I'm pleased I have space for in my wardrobe :-)

I recently purchased the PDF pattern of the Coppelia cardi in the Black Friday sales, so it was a bargain! I love the look of ballet-style wrap cardigans and had been on the look out for a pattern for a while, so I was thrilled when I came across this one. With this being one of Papercut's earlier patterns, I hadn't seen any versions on Instagram. However, the beautiful version on the pattern cover as well as the perfect fabric in my stash were enough to convince me.
The pattern has two versions - one is a cropped ballet-style wrap cardi and the other is a faux-wrap, longer top. I opted for the cropped version, knowing it would be perfect with high waisted jeans.
I used a gorgeous stripy sparkle jersey from Sewisfaction (no longer available) and constructed the whole garment on my overlocker, which made it a super quick sew! I made a straight size Small with no adjustments and the fit is perfect.
This was such a satisfying sew - really straight forward, quick but with a stunning result at the end. There were no complicated steps or head scratching moments. The clear instructions and diagrams were perfect.
I'll definitely be making more versions of this cardi soon and I would highly recommend it to anyone!

Ah this is such a lovely pattern to sew; a really satisfying quick fix! I had read elsewhere that this pattern comes up big but that wasn't my experience at all - I wonder if Papercut have redrafted it?

There are two Views, the ballet Wrap style cardi that I chose to make and a top. Undoubtedly I'll be making several versions of both of them. I graded between size small and medium as I was using really stretchy jersey and I wanted it to fit flush at the shoulder and across my back.
