New Look Jumper, Romper and Dress 6509

New Look 6509
The pattern offers multiple options including a dress, playsuit and jumpsuit. The bodice can be plain or with a really cute waist cut out. I made the playsuit with the waist cut out for my daughter in a small gingham cotton check from John Lewis.

I haven’t sewn with one of the big fours patterns for a while so forgot the amount of ease in their patterns. This meant I had to do a great deal of adjustment to the bodice to get it to fit. I was able to recut the shorts to the smallest size. In future I will just cut one size down to allow for the ease.

The bodice is lined, I particularly liked the way the straps were concealed into the bodice at the back. The construction is straight forward aided by very good pattern instructions. The only change I made was to use a slightly shorter zip. The long zip makes it easy to get the playsuit on and off. When I make it again I will attach the straps both front and back rather than using a button fastening.

The pattern offers really good value for money with its contemporary design and multiple style options. It is well constructed with easy to follow instructions.
