Barbie Can Do It All Overalls

This pattern is easy to follow and the fit is true to the pattern. It has a lot of steps to make the overalls but your patience is rewarded with a great result that looks like the picture on the pattern.

The pattern suggests you use twill, denim or stretch twill/denim. I chose stretch twill and I am glad I did because I like to sew with little ease. If I had sewn in non-stretch I would not have been able to move very well. If you are like me and size down when you sew, choose a stretch. If you sew the size with a bit more ease for your measurements then you could use regular denim/twill. I lucked out because I bought the stretch pink twill because it was on sale for $7 a meter. If I had seen regular denim (without stretch) for a good price, I may of ended up with overalls I could not sit down in because I always sew the 18 in McCall's without a thought.

There is a lot of top stitching in this pattern on most of the seams. On some seams I skipped it and others I did it. The end result is really nice so it's worth the extra step to do it.

I found that I didn't have a lot of extra strap on my overalls because I have a long torso. If you are like me, you should skip the adjustable overall hardware because you won't have enough strap to wrap it. Or make the straps a bit longer to accommodate that hardware, just in case you need it.  I used non-adjustable hardware which I purchased on Amazon and there was about an inch  & half to wrap on the end.

Project supply cost including the hardware, fabric, pattern and Barbie emblem was about $30 so these are a steal.
