Buy the Stevie Tunic sewing pattern from Tilly and the Buttons. With no darts, zips or set-in sleeves, Stevie is a satisfyingly quick and easy make – yay! Stevie has a modern, boxy fit, with a round neckline and grown-on sleeves, closing at the back with pretty ties or a button loop. Make Stevie as a top with a cropped hemline that hits the high hip, or as an above-the-knee dress, with optional turn-up cuffs and patch pocket. Throw it on with a statement necklace and you’re good to go!

Stevie includes jargon-busting instructions, helpful sewing tips, and colour photos showing you each step – making it easy for you to create gorgeous clothes you can be proud to say you made yourself.

Note: An expansion pack (sold separately) is also available for the Stevie Tunic. The Stevie Tunic Add-on includes pattern pieces and instructions for three-quarter length sleeves and a gathered skirt, so you can turn Stevie into an easy-breezy, oversized smock dress with an extra-large pocket to stash your bits and bobs.

What we think: A great beginner’s dressmaking project. With no sleeves to insert, construction is easy, and there is the option to make a top version as well. The cute tie closure detail at the back neckline gives this simple pattern the edge!

Suggested fabrics: Light- to medium-weight woven fabrics, such as linen, double gauze, chambray, cotton lawn, viscose (rayon). If you’re a confident stitcher, try a sandwashed silk or crêpe de chine.
