Buy the Hudson Pant sewing pattern from True Bias. The Hudson is an updated take on the classic sweatpant. It has front pockets, an elastic mid rise waistband, drawstring, and cuffs. The modern fit of these pants leaves a bit of extra room around the hips and then tapers into a skinny leg. View A is full length, and View B is midcalf.

This sewing pattern is available to buy in the following formats:

– PAPER (next working day dispatch on orders and FREE UK delivery over £50). This option is only available for sizes 0 – 18 (because the designer currently only prints this pattern in paper format for sizes 0 – 18). If you would like to purchase sizes 14 – 30, please select the copy shop option.

One of my most sewn patterns

I love the hudson pants! They are lounge wear but also a slim fit. I have fairly narrow legs and ankles and find it hard to find bottoms that fit me well. I have made over a 20 pairs of these and I don't think I will be stopping sewing them!

An excellent Lounge Pant!

I love this pattern! I've made two pairs so far; both as loungewear / PJs as part of a set combined with the Linden Sweatshirt. These pants are incredibly comfortable; ideal for sleepwear, loungewear, tracksuit-style bottoms are everyday easy-wear pants. They are an easy sew; suitable for beginners and are a great introduction to sewing pants generally.

The only thing I did differently from the pattern instructions was to add some stay tape to the pocket detail seam to prevent the pocket stretching out over time. I have also not topstitched the waistband - although I love the way it looks - as my weight fluctuates such a lot, I need the option to adjust the elastic at a later stage if necessary!

I can see myself making quite a few more pairs of these; probably at least a third set for PJs and then perhaps a couple more in 'outdoor' or technical fabric for wearing whilst running errands.

If you want to see more of my Hudson / Linden combo; you'll find further deets over at sewsarahsmith.com.

I love my Hudson Pants

With the UK weather decidedly unseasonably wet and chilly, my Hudson Pants have seen an awful lot of wear recently.
They are the first thing I reach for when I get home after work.
I put off making them for a long time, thinking the skinny leg silhouette too young for me. But no, they are perfect. My daughter gives them her full approval and I can see several being made up for her.
I made a straight size 4 according too my hip measurement. My waist measurement puts me at a size 6 – 8 but I thought the elasticated waist would deal with that.
They were a quick simple make. I thought sewing the horizontal lines across the thick elastic waist band would be my downfall but the instructions were clear and it was a doddle.
Next time I need to stretch the pocket binding a little to get rid of the slight gape, but I am nit picking here.

Tis the Season to…wear elasticated trousers!

Quite a lot has changed in my life this year and as a result quite a lot has changed in my wardrobe as I adapt to our new routine. Gone are the pencil skirts, heels and tight sheath dresses and in are the comfy trousers, tops and trainers. And yet I still hanker after fabrics and textiles that are smarter.

I’ve never been one for lounge wear – generally if I wear a pair of trackies its to jump on my bike or do some Pilates. However I really need comfy clothes that are good for sitting for hours as well as moving around. I therefore had to consult my sewing friends in my search of a pair of comfy, elasticated trousers that could also be a bit smart. By far the most common recommendation was for the Hudson pant from True Bias
