SEW THE TRENDS: SPRING 25: PART 1

SEW THE TRENDS: SPRING 25: PART 1
Kate Underdown

Sew the trends is back for spring.. the sun is shinning it's a little warmer in the UK, so let's plot some springtime sewing. I've scoured the high street so you can sew up some lovely stuff for your handmade wardrobe.

There was so much intel that I have made this into a two-parter! For a full rundown check out the video below and links to all the patterns are below.. .enjoy!

It's time to talk fabrics and first up we have suede. Mostly featured in outwear for obvious reasons, and in a lovely sandy brown hue.

Leopard is here again.. hurrah! This featured a lot in autumn but look out for a washed out print for summer.

Lace blouses were everywhere so it's time to hunt out some lovely broderie anglais and get sewing.

The colour palette is lovely and you are likely to have some of these shades in your wardrobe already.

Right let's talk clothing. Quilted jackets are back again! Round necklines with button fronts and patch pockets.

Two fantastic patterns to choose from the Matchy Match one is perfect if you wanted to colour block. For something a little simpler the Elle stitch would also work really well.

Next up we have the boxy short workwear jacket. This feels like the spring take on the barn jackets we saw for winter.

Both of these patterns are great options. The Ormond coat has raglan sleeves and slanted pockets and the overshirt from Modern Sewing Co has a very cute little extra pocket!

A spring trench is always a goos investment, perfect for this time of year as the days get a little longer and warmer. It's a classic that never goes out of style.

The three trench options, tick most of the boxes. The Prado is perfect if you are looking for a classic. The Kara perfect if you want a trench with less detail, and finally the Eliza for a classic mac.

This funnel neck jacket was something I wasn't expecting to see this season. It's a definite nod to the 90s and works perfectly for spring.

Choose between the Elsie jacket and the Grace. check out the line drawing of these for a closer look

The key to this jacket is that you make it in demin!

Choose between the Paynter and the McCall's for this look and you'd need to sew yourself a belt to go with either style.
