BOOK REVIEW: SEW BEAUTIFUL BY KENNIS WONG
Kate Underdown

Hello everyone and welcome back! We thought we'd kick start the New Year with a book review and we've got a great one for you. Many of you are fans of the indie sewing pattern company Itch To Stitch, and may have made a couple of their patterns in your time. The book is Called Sew Beautiful and released on the  18th January. You can preorder it now so that it pops through your letterbox.

The book has 8 patterns included and each pattern has a variation or two meaning there are 18 projects in total. The pattern sheets come at the back of the book. Each size is printed in a different colour but the pattern pieces overlap, so you will need to trace it off. The start of the book goes through topics such as preparing your fabric, making basic alterations and  what tools you need. Then it's onto the good stuff the sewing patterns! The video goes through each of the designs so make you you watch that to get a good idea of what to find inside.

In term of the layout of the book we thought it might be interesting for you get get a good look at it. After the initial picture of the pattern you'll then find a size chart, line drawing and the cutting instructions. I really liked how big the charts are making them really easy to navigate.

Next up are the layout plans, again this was lovely to have it spread across two pages and again they are quite big and easy to use. I like that the pages are pretty clean too.

The final thing to show you is how the instructions are laid out on the page. If you've ever sewing with an Itch to Stitch pattern you'll know she does great instructions. I really liked the way the images go around the outside of the page and the  text in the middle. Again the images are really big so it makes it really easy to see what you are sewing.

In terms of the sewing level for this book I'd say that a confident beginner would would enjoy this as there are projects that vary in difficulty. It's incredibly good value for money as the book is around £18 and you get 8 patterns. If you are in the Uk we are back in lockdown and this might be a good project to ignite your sewjo!
