The Edit: New Sewing Pattern Releases – 21 January

Happy Sunday and welcome back, we hope you had a fantastic break and are ready to get started on some sewing in 2024. It’s time for your weekly dose of The Edit: New Sewing Pattern Releases. This blog and vlog highlight some of the new arrivals to hit the shop this week. Kate natters about all the details you need to know so if you’re a pattern nerd like we are, this is for you!

The Bella Loves Patterns Grace Coat is probably one of the most thoughtfully designed patterns I have ever seen. It will be well worth the effort – a coat you keep for life even.
The most clever features are the dolman sleeves with underarm gusset panel for loads of movement and the belt which when not worn can be left hanging on a belt loop inside the coat. If (like me) you’ve lost a belt before, this will be a lifesaver.
PJs are one of my favourite things to wear and make, so this pattern has caught my eye. Designed for knit fabrics, the Imogen Pyjamas are easy to sew and easy to fit and will keep you comfortable and snug in the colder months. You won’t stop at sewing just one pair!
A unisex pattern is a very useful thing as you can sew one for yourself and one for someone who has achieved handmade gift status. The Unisex Painter Jacket features a generous fit – so not too tricky to sew for someone else – with oversized and unstructured details, including dropped shoulders, a large convertible collar, and expansive patch pockets.
I love an elastic waist trouser, but it’s quite nice to see an everyday style that has a regular waistband. The Cocoon Pants are roomy, so won’t be too fiddly to fit and will be comfy to sit in.
They feature a contoured waistband, fly front zipper, deep front pleats (my favourite bit!), roomy side pockets, and back welt pockets. In conclusion, a thoroughly useful pattern to have in your stash.
Wardrobe by Me has released some great new menswear sewing patterns, the first up is the Woven Polo Shirt. Perfect for summer holidays, details include a convertible collar, three-button placket, short sleeves, a double yoke, and front pocket.
Just like the women’s version, the Men’s Cocoon Pants are a stylish staple. The silhouette is loose and relaxed with plenty of room for movement. The pants feature a straight waistband, fly front zipper, deep front pleats, roomy side pockets, and back welt pockets.
Now this has date night written all over it. The Joni Top and Dress is a romantic style with a comfortable fit thanks to its use of shirring.
The dress has a shirred back which helps with fitting and looks lovely. The dress and top are also shaped with shirring. Pick a pretty print and this dress will become your feel-good outfit of choice.
This pattern has versatility written all over it. Wear it closed for a chic blouse with jeans or open over another top. It could be a lovely piece to cover your shoulders with an evening dress or to complete a wedding outfit.
The hook and eye closure front is a simple but effective detail and the princess seams create a beautiful shape.
You can also grab the Silhouette Blouse pattern as a sleeveless style.
