The Edit: New Sewing Pattern Releases – 5 November

Happy Sunday Fold Liners! It’s time for your weekly dose of The Edit: New Sewing Pattern Releases. This blog and vlog highlight some of the new arrivals to hit the shop this week. Kate natters about all the details you need to know so if you’re a pattern nerd like we are, this is for you!

If you like a little company while you sew and want to keep up with the hot releases.  You might want to hit subscribe and never miss a thing.

Tauko Magazine Issue No.9 is dedicated to the colour blue! The colour of the sky, seas and lakes has inspired a collection of nine sewing patterns by international designers. Serenity and tranquillity are very much in evidence in these designs, which include dresses, blouses, casual trousers, and a coat to keep you warm against cold winter blasts. The patterns are included for tracing off in sizes UK 6 – 32.

The latest addition to Sew Over It’s vintage collection, Viola features a button-up front, flat collar, gathers at the waist and shoulder, a lined back yoke, slightly dropped shoulder and wide waistband. The pièce de résistance is the shirred panel at the back, which makes Viola comfortable to wear whilst giving you a beautifully fitted look.

The latest trio from Atelier Jupe is pretty good. The Dani Jacket is my favourite (and the most popular so far!). Perfect for a nice teddy or quilted fabric, you can make Dani with a zipper or snap button placket, and with a hood or collar.

The Alana Dress will have you set for party season. There are three waistband options suitable for different sewing levels and the back is elasticated so no need to struggle with a zipper – yay!

The Este Shirt is a go-to wardrobe staple with a relaxed fit. You can choose between a classic shirt collar with a stand or a fun lapel collar (that’s the way I’d go!).

Merchant & Mills have released something a little different that will make your home ultra cosy in time for the hygge season. The Grove Creations bundle contains four patterns to make for the home – a duvet set, pillowcase, quilt & sofa/bed topper and relaxed blind. There are no pattern pieces needed, just the measurements and instructions so you won’t be swimming in mountains of paper!

Whether you call it a turtleneck, polo neck, roll neck or skivvy, this semi-fitted long-sleeve top combines comfort and style. The Juliana Martejevs Basic Turtleneck has a step-by-step video tutorial (in German with English subtitles) so you can follow along if you prefer watching the steps as you sew!

Looking for something to sew for the party season that isn’t a dress? I love these. Pair them with a sparkly knit or blouse and you will be set for the festive season. The Named Mimosa Culottes combine minimalist details with impressive volume in an interesting way. The front has slanted pleats and a fly front zipper fastening. The narrow waistband fastens at the front with a concealed button and hook closure. The trousers also have subtle slash side pockets.
