Maternity sewing patterns are often hard to find, so we’ve complied our top 10 maternity sewing patterns for your perusal. These are all garments that can be worn throughout your pregnancy and many of then have built in options for when you get to the nursing stage. Givre Maternity Dress Dress & Top – Deer & Doe


The Givre maternity dress is a perfect wardrobe staple and will take you the whole way through your pregnancy. The patterns comes with two belly sizes one for 3-6 months as well as 6-9 months. This sewing pattern can be made into a dress or top and there are sleeve and sleeveless options making it super versatile. There are small pleats sewn into the waist to give space for the it to grow with you.

Alissa Maternity Top – Megan Neisen


This wrap around top comes with four options making it really versatile and one that you can whip up in no time. Our favourite of the four options is the cropped sweater, it’s great for later on in the pregnancy where you want to wear something fitted and it’s a great layering piece. Version 1,2 and 3 feature a long sashes that you wrap until you get the look you like and hey presto you are ready to roll!

Bettine Dress  – Tilly and the Buttons


After the huge success of the Tilly and the Buttons Bettine dress the maternity version doesn’t disappoint. There are two options for this pattern, version one features a button down top (perfect for nursing once the baby arrives)  a raised elasticated waist and simple straight skirt. The second version is simplified but comes with an tie optional belt tie and can be made in either a woven or a lightweight jersey.

Mandy Maternity Top  – styleARC


Everyone needs a good solid basic top and the the Mandy maternity tee lives up to that name. It’s a simple make but one that can be whipped up in a few hours. It comes with two options either long sleeve or short sleeve and has gathering into the side seam so it can grow with you.

Blossom Blouse – Sew Over It


The Blossom top from Sew Over It is a wrap blouse that can take you though pregnancy and into the nursing stage. The pattern features a v-neck front, and elasticated seam that nips you in just under the bust. There is also a clever box pleat at the front of the top that gives you room to grow and is finished off with a shaped hem.

The proportions of this top make it perfect to wear over jeans and it looks great in a fabric with some drape.

Andy Maternity Trousers – styleARC


There are very few maternity trouser patterns out there to pick from but we really liked the offering from styleARC, these simple trousers come complete with a stretch tummy piece to grow with you. They are a simple slim fitting trouser with a fake fly and yoke on the back, to help with fit. These are designed to be made in a stretch fabric like a ponte but you could make them in a stretch cotton or something similar.
