img_1320This week we are reviewing Wendy Ward’s new book called ‘A Beginner’s Guide to Skirts‘ which was launched a couple of weeks ago. We were lucky enough to get a copy from the publishers (Cico books) and we have done a video review so you can get a proper feel of the book. The book features eight patterns (that also come with the book) and these can be made in three variations totalling twenty four projects!

Good review thanks. I got this book out of the library a couple of months back and then found it so useful that I bought it along with the dress book that Wendy has published. I am a ‘returner’ sewer and had forgotten a lot of techniques during the years of being busy with other things. Wendy does things properly and that is a great help as it stops me going hell for leather and getting it wrong. When in doubt consult Wendy. I also asked her a question via her blog and she responded very quickly. Just wish I lived near Brighton to take her classes. One down side of the book is, as you point out, the patterns are embedded in each other. This saves on paper but drives me nuts. Wendy says that each pattern will be published separately soon, but I think I will persevere… the patterns are all colour coded. I just need to be less impatient….
