Vogue Sleeveless Dress V1554

Corona times have not been kind to my creativity, friends. While I have several projects that need finishing, I desperately needed something shiny and new to jump-start my sewjo.

Hoping to find a pattern that could provide an easy win, I took to my pattern stash and unearth Isaac Mizarahi New York for Vogue Patterns V1554.

Immediately, some challis fabric and matching lace trim conjured dreams of a glorious mauve Edwardian-inspired confection.

So much for keeping things simple!

While this is a modern pattern, I saw plenty of opportunities to add some Victorian/Edwardian flare and making it so has just re-affirmed how empowering sewing can be! And that it’s possible to take any pattern and mold it into whatever you want. Magic!

The most challenging thing about this pattern was sewing all those pleats. There was also quite a bit of self-imposed hand-stitching because you know me and sewing time-travel! Otherwise, this pattern was a cakewalk! To be honest, my seam-ripper didn’t make a single appearance, which NEVER HAPPENS!

If you’re an adventurous beginner, jump in! Just take things slow, one step at a time. You’ll be a pro at pleat-making by the end.
