Vintage Shirt Dress

It seems my Instagram feed has been full of Sew Over It Shirt Dresses so when I felt a little more confident about my sewing skills I decided to give this pattern a go.

I love Sew Over It patterns because they fit me easily and I can follow the instructions. The shirt dress was no exception.

I made my dress from a lightweight blue cotton from Fabworks in Dewsbury. I opted to go with the sleeveless version (as I could always wear a cardigan on top) as I didn’t want to jump before I could walk!

I found the instructions very easy to follow with the exception of the facing on the button bands, which, after an explanation from a friend, really turned out to be very simple!

The fit was also almost perfect. I cut out the size suitable for my measurements and just had to take the waist in by a centimetre to get my preferred fit.

I now love my dress and can understand why people have several in their wardrobe. Next time I just might be a little neater!
