Victoria Blazer

A review of By Hand London Victoria Blazer

My favourite project of the year so far is this jacket. I’m eagerly looking forward to Autumn because this is such a wearable piece and I love the relaxed yet formal look. Now on the sewing…

This jacket is the ideal project to start with if you’re beginner to sewing outwear. There are very few pieces to it, which was great because I traced this pattern and it took about an hour..and I was being slow. The jacket was easy to sew together partly because this is a beginner project but mostly due to the excellent sew along the By Hand London girl provide for all their patterns. This project took two days. One for most of the coat and the next for hand sewing, which I you have to do for the sleeveless version.

I used wool for the outer shell and cotton for the lining. Two brilliant fabrics which cut and sew without any fuss.

Th one con I would have is the lining does peek through, which I love because I love my lining fabric but for another version I will solve by using a tutorial by Marilla Walker
