Utility Trousers

A review of Merchant & Mills Men's Elling Trousers

My husband needed some trousers for work and asked me to make him some..he’s a Chef and finding comfortable and practical trousers is hard. All the catering uniforms are so baggy and loose, one size fits all. Steve is a 36” waist and 6.1 tall so I made the size 36 and added 1.5” to the leg length. I went for the faux fly version aiming to swerve inserting a zip!  I chose a Bi-stretch poly in Panama dark grey from Dalston Mill.  148cm wide, 170gsm. They sewed up quite easily apart from the waistband. It’s an unusual construction and tbh, it looks bulky which I thought could have been finished differently. The fit came up on the large side so I noted down to size down on the second pair. 10 months later and I’ve made his second pair! I sized down and they look great, they’re comfy to work in and wash like a dream.
