A review of Megan Nielsen Sudley Dress and Blouse

This pattern was a perfect match for this lightweight silk – I knew I wanted to wear it as a tunic over jeans. There are so many options on the pattern. I chose the dress version with tie neck keyhole and made it straight from the pattern in size Medium. I’m 38/31/41 And 5ft 2″. I followed the pattern instructions more or less to the letter and it was pretty straightforward. I did find the neckline instructions a little confusing but worked it out in the end. I decided not to line it as I wanted to retain the light airiness of the fabric and it worked fine, using French seams apart from waist and armholes which I overlocked . The length was perfect for how I intend to wear it. Next time I may drop the waist a little… there are lots of different options given in the instructions. I hand finished neck binding and hems. As there is no shaping in the armholes or darts the dress can be worn back to front. When I make it again I will adjust for my uneven shoulders but with this strong pattern that would not have worked. I’m loving this and cannot wait for some warmer weather to wear it.
