Quick Summer Top

A review of Fibre Mood Sara Top

This is a really quick and simple make perfect for a summers afternoon sewing sesh!

It only has 3 pattern pieces: front, back and the straps you also need a length of elastic to create the paperbag finish. As with all fibremood patterns you first will have to trace out the pattern and REMEMBER to add the seam allowances! Which although is a bit annoying when all you want to do is get on with making it, it is the simplest pattern to trace out so doesn’t take much time at all.

There is one tricky part in the instructions when it comes to creating the elastic channel, I had to play around with the paper pattern pieces to make sense of that part but so long as you take your time with it then it works out fine. Overall I would say this pattern is suitable for a beginner as there are no tricky fastenings and the fit is really loose so if you make a mistake no one’s really going to notice.

The only annoying thing is I can’t seem to get the straps to stay up! So you may have to play around with where you tie them and once happy secure them in place so it doesn’t become a hurdle to wearing it.

I made it up in a Merchant & Mills cotton which I got from Minerva in exchange for a blog post – you can read the full review on their website by searching for my profile: ‘girlcansew’ you can also find me on Instagram: @girlcansew
