A review of Nina Lee Kew Dress and Skirt

I don’t know why I waited so long to make this dress but late better than never! I can see why everyone raves about this pattern. I choose to make Version 1 with sleeves. The fabric is this beautiful red and white floral crimplene crepe from Sew Over It and it only took under 2 metres which is fantastic considering most dresses takes 3 metres! I match the dress with floral pearl-white buttons from John Lewis.

I made a size 12, kinda graded waist to a 13. It ended up a little bit too big on my shoulders. I might move my buttons over a little bit so it’s a bit tighter as the fabric has a bit of stretch (but there are a LOT of buttons!!!). Next time I should be really make a size 10 with a small FBA. I didn’t ruche the sleeves either.

Thanks goodness my machine can do automatic buttonholes and buttons because there are a LOT of buttons! Also near the waist the fabric is too bulky, I ended up have to sew a buttonhole by hand (thanks google). Enjoyable make for sure, the staystitching along the neck line is a must especially with crepe! Can’t wait to make the other versions.
