The Foldline were the sponsor of a SewOver50 Instagram challenge and I was the lucky winner, so I had great fun using my credit note on some sewing patterns. The Nicole shirt dress was one of them – credit to Sew Over It for using an older model in their pattern photos. I was looking for a classic shirt dress pattern, that would be a relatively simple sew and it didn’t disappoint. Other than adding to the length and a smidge to the waist I made no changes and was really pleased with how the finished dress turned out. I did wonder if I ought to raise the waistline, but having asked subscribers to my channel and receiving a big No in response I left it untouched.
It’s been a while since I’ve made a SOI pattern and I’d forgotten how lovely and clear both their instructions and their pattern markings are although I don’t understand why the instructions are all in metric, but the body measurements are in imperial. I’d prefer both options.
I did wonder if the short sleeve was a bit of an odd length in that it lands at my elbow but having seen myself in it on my YouTube channel I now rather like the length.
It’s a thumbs up from me, if you fancy seeing it in action click here. https://youtu.be/YPApPzUPkVs
