Perfect rigid denim pattern

A review of Megan Nielsen Dawn Jeans

These jeans were supposed to have been a trial run of the pattern with 1.25m of leftover fabric from my Pona jacket. But they have turned out to be so much more than that. Not only is the finished pair of jeans amazing, you get so much bang for your buck! There are 3 different full leg versions – tapered, straight and wide – they all have cropped, regular and tall length options AND there is a shorts option as well. I mean, that is INCREDIBLE VALUE FOR MONEY.

I chose to make view A, the tapered leg version. Based on my measurements I should have made a straight size 10, but I didn’t realise my hips had increased by an inch over the last few months and graded down to an 8 on the hips. After baste fitting it I decided to let out the sides and the inseam a little bit. I added an inch and a half to the regular length and I also had to make a full calf adjustment to accommodate my massive calves.

The instructions are crystal clear, just as with other Megan Nielsen patterns I have tried in the past. Jeans can be an intimidating undertaking but with instructions like these, anybody could tackle them and come out with a great pair of jeans at the other end. In case there was any doubt, I highly recommend the Dawn jeans.
