Monty John Jacket

My husband requested a jacket that looked something like the one Monty John wears on Gardeners World. After scrolling the internet we settled on the Merchant and Mills Foreman Jacket.  This is the first Merchant and Mills pattern I have sewn. The paper pattern is printed out on tissue paper but it was easy enough to trace over and I found the instructions clear to follow. The only alterations I had to make was to the length of the jacket and sleeves both of which I shortened, this did mean that when I added the pockets they were lower than the hem line should of been (if I had placed them higher it wouldn’t of looked balance) to get round this I used double sided tape to hem and then hand stitched internally to secure. I also bound all the internal seams.  Hubby is very pleased with how it turned out and I am tempted to make myself one too.
