Made It Patterns Hug Hoodie

I’m more of a dressy kind of girl, so I don’t often sew loungewear, but as soon as I came across this pattern, I was intrigued by the overlapping rounded hemband and wanted to make it. The construction is fun and the instructions are clear. I particularly enjoyed that it includes instructions for binding the seam allowance of the neckband, which is something I have never tried before. It gives a really neat finish!

I found it true to size. It is on the shorter side, which I like, but if you’re tall, check the finished garment measurements to make sure it is long enough for you.

I sewed this up in lockdown from a combination of soft and snuggly fleece-backed sweatshirting and a remnant of some sparkly sweatshirting, and it really does feel like a hug! I didn’t have enough fabric to make the version with the hood, but will definitely try it at some point as well. If you want to see a couple more pictures, you can have a look at this blogpost.

I highly recommend this pattern. It is an interesting design and offers many possibilities for doing some colourblocking and using up some of your scraps, which is always a win!
