Macaron

The Macaron Dress has been on my sewing list for a long time and I finally have found the perfect fabric for this pattern. I used pure Italian wool tweed in khaki green, my favourite colour, and embellished some of the seams with a small ricrac ribbon in pale pink.

This dress is un-lined and this makes it fun to sew, although I put a linen blend as lining for the top part of the bodice, instead of having a neck facing, for more structure. I didn’t use contrast fabric for the top half, but used the same fabric for the whole dress. I simplified the skirt part and took out the pleats, it suits my figure better. The waist on this dress sits slightly above my normal waist which makes it very comfortable, I love wearing it.

I find this dress fairly straight forward to sew and I love Colette’s instruction booklets with easy-to-follow guides, and I really enjoyed sewing this dress! I’m now thinking about sewing a summer version.
