Lovely basic top

I love everything about this top. It was a delight to sew – with clear, easy to follow instructions. It is made in a mid weight linen and I am sure is going to be a staple in my wardrobe. I see many more versions to come,

both of the top and dress!

I made version A with neck facing and short cuffed sleeves. I did a size 12 after careful consideration of the finished measurements part of the pattern – normally I would make a 14 or 16. Using the new full bust adjustment, I simply cut out the C cup version. As always the bust dart was too high for me – long torso and a general movement to the south, so I moved the dart down by a few cm.

I think I will make the next one a few cms longer as it is a tick short and I biased the hem so as not to use too much material for it.

Overall I used less material than suggested – I think it was only a metre in the end. My suggestion: measure carefully and think about how much ease you want in your finished garment before deciding which size to make.
