LANDER PANT & SHORT

A review of True Bias Lander Pant and Short

I had never made a proper pair of trousers before and was spent a while searching for the perfect pair before I settled on the Landers. I’d read quite a few reviews waxing lyrical about the merits of the one inch seam allowance on the side seam so thought this would me as a nervous, novice trouser fitter and I was not disappointed.

My waist and hip measurements spanned across quite a few sizes; a 2 for my waist and a 12 for my hips. As I knew it would have the larger side seam allowance I cut out a 10 and took it in quite a bit at the waist by increasing the back darts, taking a wedge out of the centre back and a wedge out of the front side sides. Overall I would say they are still too roomy overall and especially in the legs, however I made these with a stretch needlecord which have quite a lot of stretch so I’m not sure whether they would feel as large in say a non-stretch denim. I’m debating whether to go down a size to an 8 for my next pair.

I cut out view B, the slightly cropped view and shortened the legs by 3cm (I am 5 foot 4 for reference). I’m happy with this length and feel like they fit in nicely with the wide legged cropped trouser trend that’s popular at the moment.

I’d definitely recommend making this trousers, aside from being a great design the instructions were clear and it felt well drafted. A thumbs up from me!
