What a fun sew! The Kalle shirt and shirtdress has a ton of interchangeable features including the collar, placket, pocket, pleat and length. I sewed up the cropped version in a size 4 with a standard button placket, inverted pleat, standard collar, and no pocket and no alterations. It has a clean, professional finish, inside and out, meaning no exposed raw edges! This was my first collared shirt and as an advanced beginner, I learned quite a few new techniques including how to sew a placket, yoke, collar, curved hem facings, flat felled seams, cuffs, pleats, buttons and buttonholes. The collar was the trickiest part but the instructions and sew along make it easy to complete step by step. The instructions suggest an easier way to sew on a collar but the sew along also demonstrates how to do it the more traditional way. I went with the easier way and it turned out great for me.
