Heavenly Cielo

A review of Closet Core Patterns Cielo Top and Dress

Heather Lou and the Closet Case team have just released the Rome collection in an extended size range. All the publicity around the re-release reminded me of the lovely Cielo top pattern which I’d been planning to make since it was published last summer – those pouffy sleeves!. I celebrated by making the first of many new Cielo tops.

I used a black, flowery viscose that drapes really well that I bought in a fabric-purchasing frenzy at the Stitch Festival. I made plenty of errors with construction (detailed on the blog) but I really loved making this top. It’s not just because I could see she was a lovely thing as I was making her – but also because the pattern was really well put together, easy to follow and fun.

I had to walk down to our local sewing shop (Sweet Seams) to get some more black thread mid afternoon on Saturday, and I realised I was walking along with a big grin on my face – because I was in the middle of a really happy sewing day. I totally recommend this pattern – it’s lovely to make and lovely to wear.

Now I think I need a Cielo dress …
