Fun bomber jacket

A review of McCalls Unisex Bomber Jackets M7637

I’m pretty new to sewing clothes. This is my first jacket–my first time using ribbing, making something fully lined, and only my second garment with a zipper. The pattern is not as detailed as the indie patterns I’ve used until now, but I went slow and steady, often basting and checking that things made sense before final stitching. I altered the sleeves by shortening and also narrowing to the wrist. It’s a unisex pattern and I’m 5’4″ (with a bit of padding around the midsection :), so the need to shorten the sleeves wasn’t surprising.

I’m really happy with how it turned out. I chose a lightweight twill from Spoonflower. I love the insanely bright and bold pattern of it. I’d definitely recommend the pattern and might try a slightly more subtle fabric next time.

Thanks to Emmas_Atelier for her review and the inspiring collection of these jackets she has made for her husband.
