McCall’s 7606 is a wrap-skirt and bodysuit combination; the two wrap skirts are different lengths, and View C has a statement ruffle (which is the option I went for). It’s an excellent pattern for beginners and really easy to sew — the only tricky part is how long it takes to gather the ruffle! I made a straight size M and didn’t make any adjustments to the fit, but I did switch to French seams to finish the garment; as the hem dips at the back and the wrong side is slightly visible, I wanted to make sure everything looked pretty on the inside.
I made View C out of a light cotton, so it feels so light and airy during this current heatwave – you can see more pictures and details on my blog!
I would recommend 7606 for a beginner sewist looking to make a wrap skirt, but if I were to make it again, I would consider lengthening and widening the tie ends — this is just purely a personal preference, but I think a bigger bow tie at waist would look better.
