Easy to sew, looks beautiful

I thought this was a really lovely pattern. Two types of instructions are given – simple instructions for the more experienced sewist and detailed instructions with pictures for the less experienced sewist (me!). I used a cheap double gauze to make a toile and although I did have to pick up the seam ripper a few times, this was more down to me not paying attention (e.g. putting a sleeve in the wrong way round) than to the instructions. There was only one point, when I was sewing the side seams of the top, where I just couldn’t work out what the instructions were telling me. I was maybe just sewing too late into the night or something, but Friday Pattern Company came to my rescue with their YouTube channel. I launched their sew-along (handily referenced in the instructions), fast forwarded to the right part and voila! It was really simple, once I saw it being done in real time.

The set is beautiful (one other mistake I made was forgetting to apply interfacing, but I actually really like the softness of the collar etc!) and I will definitely be making it up in another fabric, but my toile is absolutely wearable and will be going on holiday with me this summer.
