Coppelia Cardi

A review of Papercut Patterns Coppélia Cardi

Reviewed by Sewn on the Tyne on 8th January, 2019

I recently purchased the PDF pattern of the Coppelia cardi in the Black Friday sales, so it was a bargain! I love the look of ballet-style wrap cardigans and had been on the look out for a pattern for a while, so I was thrilled when I came across this one. With this being one of Papercut’s earlier patterns, I hadn’t seen any versions on Instagram. However, the beautiful version on the pattern cover as well as the perfect fabric in my stash were enough to convince me.
The pattern has two versions – one is a cropped ballet-style wrap cardi and the other is a faux-wrap, longer top. I opted for the cropped version, knowing it would be perfect with high waisted jeans.
I used a gorgeous stripy sparkle jersey from Sewisfaction (no longer available) and constructed the whole garment on my overlocker, which made it a super quick sew! I made a straight size Small with no adjustments and the fit is perfect.
This was such a satisfying sew – really straight forward, quick but with a stunning result at the end. There were no complicated steps or head scratching moments. The clear instructions and diagrams were perfect.
I’ll definitely be making more versions of this cardi soon and I would highly recommend it to anyone!
I hope this review was helpful and that I may have convinced you to give this pattern a go.
