Clear instructions, well-drafted, great fit.

I made both the shirt and shirtdress versions for this pattern to review on my blog. I made straight size 5 with minor alteration; raising the waist by 4cm and adding the same length to the skirt to get the finished length that I aimed for. I’m a cup B, 38-31-39, and I’m just over 5’2″. I didn’t need to do SBA, so I guess the pattern was drafted for a B cup. The fit is great, the instructions are clear, and as per usual Tilly is so generous with tips and tricks to make the sewing process go a lot smoother with better result, like how to perfectly hide under-collar and inner collar stand. I’m now ready to tackle contrasting under-collar or inner collar stand, no need to worry about them showing 😀

My shirt is made with Atelier Brunette cotton lawn, the perfect fabric for shirts I think. While my dress is made out of Rose and Hubble quilting cotton. The quilting cotton provides more structure to show off the princess seams on the skirt without being too rigid nor restricting. I shortened the sleeves for the dress as I wanted to try different look, I actually quite like the short sleeves. Tilly also offers free bonus sleeve pattern on her website for a more conventional long cuffed sleeves that I’m definitely going to try for next time.
All in all, I am beyond happy to have the Rosa pattern in my pattern collection. I would whole-heartedly recommend this pattern if you’re looking for a good semi fitted shirt/shirtdress pattern. I can see a lot more Rosas in my future wardrobe.
