City Trousers review

A review of The Avid Seamstress City Trousers

I’m so glad I finally made this pattern! The trousers turned out exactly how I wanted them to and they look great. Fitted at the waist and hips without accentuating the not so good bits, and straight and loose on the legs. It closes with a zip at the centre back seam due to the slash pockets on the sides. There’s also an option for little slits on the bottom of the legs, which I chose to do and they look really cute.
I made a straight size 2 (UK10) with no alterations. I was worried the waistband might be too tight but it was fine in the end. My fabric has 3% elastane so I might cut the waistband a little longer if I ever make it in a non-stretch fabric.
The one star I knocked off is only because the instructions are a little hit and miss in my opinion. Some of the steps have an almost excessive amount of explanation to them, while other things are only briefly mentioned at the very start.
It’s still a great pattern and I highly recommend it. I will most definitely be making them again.
