Checked Anima Pants

These trousers are one of my favourite ever makes! I’ve worn them so much since making them. I really love the Anima Pants pattern, and have made two versions previously. For this pair I wanted to elevate classic joggers into something a bit different. Although it’s a great pattern for a classic pair of joggers, what I really like about the Anima Pants is that they can be made in a different fabrics to make a smarter pair of trousers which are secretly really comfy.

I think it’s the combination of the fabric and pattern that has made these trousers so successful. I already knew that the pattern fit me well and I wanted a pair of large-checked trousers but really struggled to find the fabric. It was worth the wait though as this fabric is gorgeous (but very annoying to pattern match!). I didn’t bother to pattern match the fly and focused instead on the pockets which I’m really happy with.

The hardest part of sewing these trousers is probably the waistband which requires a surprising amount of strength! Overall, it’s a really simple pattern and fit me perfectly with no adjustments thanks to the elasticated waist.
