Amazing pattern.

A review of Helen's Closet Yanta Overalls

I made my Yantas in straight size 12, my measurements are 37-31-39 and I’m 5’2.5″. I think the pattern is well-drafted, and the instructions are so clear with plenty of illustrations as well as tutorials on how to custom fit your overalls – I especially love the fit assessment guide, sooo helpful. These overalls are supposed to be loose-fit and I love it. As I made a straight size (though I did make a few changes to fit me better) I didn’t need the side zipper, I can just pull the overalls on. The fabric I used is 8oz washed denim in blue from Fabric Godmother UK.
The main changes I did were shortening the front and back crotch by 1″ each, and I also removed 1″ from the top back so the strap join in the back sits a bit lower on me, and I took in a bit from the side seams (from below the waist, so that I didn’t have to change anything on the facing), to taper the legs a bit more and most importantly to make the hips look a bit slimmer as I did have too much excess fabric there. I didn’t shorten the legs as I wanted the turn-up hem look that the model was sporting. I finished the inseam, and front and back mid-seams with flat-felled seam, and the side seams partially with orange bias binding to add a bit of interest and to tie in with my orange mismatched buttons.
These overalls are a joy to sew and easy to wear, quite a quick make too. Love love love my Yantas. I’d definitely recommend this pattern.
