A wardrobe classic

A review of Fibre Mood Ermine Blouse

Ever since I bought Fibre Mood 16 magazine I had been eyeing up Ermine. It’s a top which will easily slot into your wardrobe as it fulfils a lot of important criteria (in my eyes): it’s roomy, it’s floaty but it’s still got a lot of interesting things going on in the construction to make it a satisfying project. I cut a size 12/40 and made no mods.

There is an interesting front yoke which has gathering detail over the bust and meets in a ‘V’ shape at the placket, and a back yoke with gathering too. The final silhouette fitted over the shoulders and then floaty from the bust down.

I made this from a viscose challis called ‘Dancing Daisies’ (bought from my shop, Bornella Fabrics). It’s lightweight but not too unruly. I think this pattern would work very well in any fabric with a good amount of drape, like viscose or a lightweight cotton.

Overall I’m really please with the final top and I’ll be getting a lot of wear out of it.

Happy sewing xx
