A summer staple

A review of Closet Core Patterns Charlie Caftan

The dress is a very simple sheath shape with a neckline facing and front panel. The panel was challenging but everything else came together easily. I made everything with french seams which I’m really pleased with – it makes the dress really comfy to wear.

The dress ties at the back which gives it a nice defined waist at the front, though I don’t think it’s the most flattering from the back. That said, it’s designed for hot weather and it’s fun having something floaty to swoosh about in.

The panel instructions were a little confusing but Closet Case has a tutorial which makes it a little clearer. Or, Coco’s Loft suggests a way to do it entirely by machine which looks like it would work well.
